The new government guidance for the Relationships, Sex & Health Education (RSHE) curriculum states that:
“Schools are required… to provide some relationships and health education to all primary age pupils.
You may choose to focus this year’s RSHE teaching on the immediate needs of your pupils, such as health education, introducing a more comprehensive RSHE programme in September 2021.
You should prioritise RSHE content based on the needs of your pupils, with particular attention to the importance of positive relationships, as well as mental and physical health.”
That’s a lot to add to an already very full plate, so here’s how we’ve kept it nice and simple for you.
We’ve packaged some of our interactive lesson and resources into the three priority categories: Positive Relationships, Mental Health and Physical Health. Some of these lessons are teacher-led, some are ‘Natterled’ for independent learning, and some can be found in the ‘Natterhub Wellbeing’ area of Natterhub Plus.
Simply click on the big pink banner in the lessons section and select your chosen area to find the lessons. Learn more with our easy-to-follow video.
This set of lessons will focus on the fundamental building blocks of friendship and why it’s so important. Pupils will explore respect, consideration, empathy, kindness and permission giving, in both online and offline situations.
This set of lessons focuses on the characteristics of good mental health and physical health, and the relationship between the two. Much of the content will link screen-based experiences with offline situations; perfect for children who have spent the last few months on screens.
Lockdown has taken its toll on our physical health, even for the active busy bees among us. These suggested lessons will help pupils to understand the link between physical health and mental health, and the importance of both. They focus on characteristics of good physical health, and strategies to help pupils stay healthy in everyday life.
