Animal Crossing is predominantly a single-player game. If a player wants visitors to their island, they will need a subscription to the NIntendo Online service. Players can then choose who to invite to their island from their ‘Friends’ list. Requesting and using a ‘Dodo Code’ is the only way someone not your child’s friends list could visit their island.
After playing online with someone from their friends list, your child can opt to convert that player to a ‘Best Friend’. This will allow that other player to manipulate their island and communicate via text.
