When setting up a Facebook account (or at any later stage), users can control their privacy settings. By selecting ‘Friends’ rather than ‘Public’, only those you know as your  Facebook friends, can see your posts. 
More specifically, certain friends can be prevented from seeing your posts. Users can even limit who can see past posts.
