There is scope for children to view inappropriate content on YouTube, such as mature content; that could contain adult language, violent or scary content, sexually suggestive content or upsetting content.
YouTube also contains a lot of advertising. Some of these adverts may be directed at children but others may contain mature content.
However, in order to limit the amount of dangerous content that is uploaded, YouTube uses Community Guidelines to guide content creators on what is safe and appropriate to post on YouTube. YouTube’s Community Guidelines address nudity, sex, hateful messaging and other violent content.
It is important to note that despite YouTube’s best efforts to ensure all videos on their platform meet their Community Guidelines, because of the volume of content uploaded, it is possible inappropriate content will be missed.
